Hi, I’m Mikala

I’ll be honest.. I’ve never been a ‘fitness person’.

I’ve done the gym thing before but it always felt more like punishment than actually looking after myself.

I got into pilates after having my first baby, when I was dealing with prolapse and getting sick of feeling disconnected from my body.

Pilates was the first thing where I was like “…oh. This actually helps.

I left every class feeling less stressed, more in my body, and more capable.

The way I teach these days is very much based on that idea. It should feel good for your body and good for your mind.

Movement doesn’t need to feel punishing or intimidating to be effective.

You can meet your body where it’s at and still get stronger, fitter, and more connected.

Some days you’ll come into class and you’re like, “yeah nah, today’s a gentle one.”

And other days you’ll want to go a bit harder, get sweaty, feel your muscles burn. Both should be available to you.

That’s why I’m big on giving options and modifications so you can actually get what you need out of the class that day.

How I Got Here

Six months postpartum with my first, I couldn't lift my son without feeling like my insides were falling out.

Fast forward through a prolapse diagnosis, a pessary, and plenty of tears trying to come to terms with it all… I found ‘Core and Floor Restore with B’.

Then here in NW Tas, I came across in-person classes with Jen from Tassie Active.

What started as pelvic floor recovery became something bigger.

On the hardest days with my toddler, knowing I had a pilates class to go to that night kept me going.

Pilates became my mental reset and helped me feel more at home in my body again.

I love this form of movement because it genuinely changes how you feel

Not just how you look, but how you move through your day, and how you show up for the people and things you care about.

Maybe you just want to feel noticeably stronger, move more easily, and not feel so stiff or restricted. This is for you!

You don’t need to be postpartum, perimenopausal, post-injury, or sick of exercise feeling like a punishment to get a heap out of these classes.

But if any of those things resonate, you’re for sure in the right place 😉

Whatever stereotype you have in mind for a pilates instructor… that’s not me 😂.

Come to class and you’ll likely see I don't have my toenails all pretty or the ‘perfect pilates outfit’. I've got stretch marks and backyard tattoos and a body that's been through prolapse twice.

Moving your body shouldn’t come with pressure to look a certain way.  I care about creating a space where you feel comfortable to come as you are.

Sound like your kinda vibe?
